Curve Tutorial - For FireWorks, Photoshop, GIMP
What you need
Here is simple technique to give your photos a stunting effect (to make your photos “POP”). First you will need a photo editing software such as Adobe Photoshop / Macromedia Fireworks or GIMP etc… Oh GIMP is free and it has many rich features like Photoshop.
Begin Tutorial
In this tutorial I want to introduce the Curve Adjustment. The curve adjustment has 4 different Channels, RGB, Red, Green, and Blue. By changing the curve you will get different results like brightness, contrast, and color. The best and simplest is by applying an S curve on the RGB channel; your photo will pop instantly, it will look sharper and have better tonality.
Creating Coloring effects
You can create a warmer or cooler effect by adjusting the Red, Green, and Blue Channel. By adding magenta into your photo you will get a red warm effect. The reverse effect will be by adding cyan for a cold effect. Try this yourself and you will be amazed what you find.
1.Start with the Orginal Photo. Click on Filters - Adjust Color - Curve

2. Drag the curve to make it look like an S shape

3. Click the channel box to select Red and slightly pull the center curve up.

4. Contuine with the Green and Blue Channel until you have the desire result.
